| In 2005 we are presenting a new
llama and fiber event, the Llamas of Central Colorado Llama & Fiber Festival.
This exciting event will allow llama owners the opportunity to market and share
their llamas with the public while demonstrating the llama's versatility. We will have a
fun-filled, educational weekend at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle
Rock, Colorado. We plan to offer workshops, demonstrations, vendors, an ALSA
Youth Performance Show, an ALSA
Fleece Show and a "Walking Fleece" class. Please email us at brenda.vance@splitrockllamas.com
if you have any questions or are in need of additional information not found on
this web site.

We will have a specified
number of spaces available for other fiber producing animals at this Fiber
Festival. Alpacas, sheep, goats and rabbits are wonderful fiber producers and
they are welcome at this event. We expect these spaces to fill up quickly,
so please contact us as soon as possible to reserve your space. If you are an
owner or breeder of one of these animals, please contact us if there are
workshops and demonstrations you would like to have included in the Festival.
We will need volunteers to present demonstrations
with their llamas for the public. Some of the demonstrations we plan to offer
include: llamas as pack animals, grooming and shearing the llama, cart driving
with the llama, llama performance - i.e., executing an obstacle course,
spinning, preparing a llama fleece (skirting, sorting, carding), needle
felting, wet felting, etc. If you have additional ideas for demonstrations that
you would like to see offered, please contact us.
Most of us
never get the opportunity to meet and greet the public when we attend ALSA llama
shows. We are all too busy grooming, showing, cleaning stalls, etc., to spend
quality time with the public answering their questions and marketing our llamas.
The LOCC Llama & Fiber Festival will afford llama owners the perfect opportunity to spend
the entire weekend with our llamas, demonstrating their versatility, and
marketing this wonderful and unique animal and their fiber. It will give the
public a chance to learn about llamas and fiber. Who knows, you might even find
the perfect llama that you just can't live without!
As we progress on our plans for this event, we
will post additional information to this web page. Vendors will be added to our
list as applications are received and approved.
